The first of four rounds to determine the Austin Men's City Champion will take place on Thursday August 2nd. This year's tournament includes a skills competition on Wednesday afternoon at Jimmy Clay and then four rounds of stroke play to determine the champion. The first two rounds will be at Jimmy Clay and Lions Municipal. A 36 hole cut will narrow the field for the last two rounds on Roy Kizer Golf Course.
Defending Champion Kody King is in the field along with former two time winners Michael Cooper and Brian Noonan as well as other former champions Matt Werneke, Mike Allen and Mark Baldree.
Other favorites include Alex Ellis, who is on a roll. He recently qualfied for the U.S. Amateur, won the local U.S. Open Qualifier, won the Amateur Division of the 2012 Austin Open. Other recent winners in the field include Joe Bendetti who won the 2012 Spring Mid-Am Championship, Seth Stuart the 2012 Hill Country Amateur at Crystal Falls.
A host of other prominent players such as Trent Redfern, Steve Paterson, Gene Black, Joe Beck III, Cody Price, Mark Shive, Peter McGibney, Peach Reynolds, Grady Bruce, Ben Carter, Drew Bell, Chris Hartenstein, Steffan Schmieding and Robert Evans.
