The Austin area will be well represented in the Texas Amateur Championship being held at Austin Country Club June 16-19 at Austin Country Club. The Texas Golf Association conducts the event and will provide live scoring in three hole increments. Among these players there are several former winners of the Firecracker Open, including Mike Allen, Michael Cooper, Scott Rodebush, and Stratton Nolen.
Michael Cooper and Mike Allen are former City Championship winners and Allen recently won the TGA South Region Seniors Championship. Allen, age 63 is the oldest contestant in the field.
Joe Beck III and Tayler Termeer just graduated from Lake Travis where they lead their team to the State IV-A Team title and finished 1st & 2nd respectively in the individual standings.
