Austin Area Players Scores in 1st Round of Texas Amateur.
Austin Country Club's Pete Dye Layout, 102 degree Texas heat and high winds proved a stern test for the field of the Texas Golf Associaton, Insperity, Texas Amateur Championship.
The low score for the field was 71. Austin Country Club's current club champion Jamie Beaman lead the Austin contingent after the first round of play with an even par 72. Beaman's round was posted in the difficult afternoon conditions with slightly higher heat and winds.
Friday's play will see Thursday's morning wave play in the afternoon and vice versa. The 36 hole cut will consist of the low 54 scores and ties.
