Westlake Boys Capture District 15-5A Golf Championship

Matthew Perrine won Medalist Honors and led the Westlake Boys Team to the 15-5A Golf Championship at Roy Kizer Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday, March 25-26.  Both Westlake and Lake Travis will advance to the Regional Golf Tournament, along with some individuals who qualified as medalists.

The Westlake 1 team, led by Perrine, won by three shots over the Lake Travis Boys by posting a two day team total of 585, 17 over par.    The Westlake 1 team consisted of Perrine, Stratton Nolen, Andy Germann, Garret Lynch and Tyler Gammill. The Lake Travis Team consisted Jake Ezell, Klein Klotz, Andrew Liu, Joey Hearn and Dillion Vanessen.

Competition for the team title was close throughout the competition, with the eventual margin of victory being only three shots. After the first round, Westlake 1 led the competition with a 298 total with Lake Travis 1 only two shots behind at 300.  The second round saw Westlake 1 post a three over par total of 287 while Lake Travis posted four over 288, both considerably better scores than the first day.  The narrow margin of victory made every shot important coming down to the finish.  Players, coaches, parents and golf fans in general were in suspense as the play unfolded.

Advancing to Regionals as medalists are Alex Levy of Austin High School and Jacob Rodriquez of Lake Travis Med.
