The fifth annual Rudy's I-35 Cup is being played November 1-3 at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio. The event includes a fund raising scramble between Austin and San Antonio businesses on Friday, November 1st prior to a Ryder Cup style competition between amateur teams from Austin and San Antonio on Saturday and Sunday.

The Rivalry Before The Matches
The "Rivalry Before The Matches" scramble, which has raised over $200,000 in the previous four years of the Rudy's Cup, takes place Friday and features teams from the Austin and San Antonio area businesses and individuals. This year's participation in the Rivalary Before The Matches is proceeding at approximately the same pace with respect to the fund raising efforts.
The winners of the Rivalry Before The Matches will be recognized at the opening ceremonies Friday night. Information about the sponsors, benefiting charities and more is available on the websites previously mentioned.
The Rudy's I-35 Cup Matches
The Rudy's I-35 Cup Matches will be played Saturday and Sunday at Oak Hills Country Club and the public is invited to watch these matches. The format will be foursomes (alternate shot) on Saturday morning, four ball Saturday afternoon and singles on Sunday morning.
The opening ceremonies Friday night at Oak Hills Country Club will include dinner, a featured speaker, introduction of the Austin and San Antonio Rudy's Cup teams and the announcement of the pairings for Saturday's alternate shot competition. The pairing for the afternoon four ball matches will be decided after the morning's foursome matches. Pairings for Sunday's singles matches will be decided after play on Saturday.
The Players
The players in the Rudy's I-35 Cup matches are mid-amateurs and seniors who have earned a spot on the team through a year long points race or were a captain's picks. There are fourteen players per team plus non-playing captains and assistant captains.
Austin selects the top nine mid-amateurs and top three seniors from the Austin Amateur Golf Rankings and the captain adds two picks to complete the fourteen man roster.
