The Lake Travis Girls Golf Team captured the Region II 6A Golf Championship by six shots over Westlake High School.
Kristen Gillman lived up to her billing as a super player by posting 67 to lead the team scoring on the second day.
Kaitlyn Papp demonstrated why she is one of the top junior players in the country with a one under par 71.
Lauren Comegys shot 75, Morgan Lay posted 76 and Sara Camarena had 77. The low four scores counted toward a 289, one over par for the day. Combined with a first round team total of 293, the Chaps posted a two day total of 582.
Westlake was six shots behind Lake Travis and finished second to advance to the state tournament. Kennedy Swan posted 71 in both rounds. Randy Romack shot 75-73, Madelyn Jones had 73-75, Jordan Shackelford 75-76 and Maggie Cowart 74-81. Elena Castenon was an alternate.
The state championship is a couple of weeks away so both teams will be practicing in anticipation of that event.
