2011 Central Texas Women's Amateur
Marian Barker from Lubbock Country Club displayed impressive form in shooting 68-69 = 137 to win the 2011 Womens Central Texas Amateur Golf Tournament at Avery Ranch. 
While the rest of the field played solid golf, Barker's 7 under par total was good for a 9 shot margin of victory. Runner-up Carol Martin, who plays out of Hackberry Creek CC, posted 74-72 = 146 for a two over par total. Sharron Davis, playing out of Lions Municipal Golf Course, shot 74-73 = 147 to finish tied for third with Mina Hardin out of Mira Vista in Fort Worth. Camille Clay and Cindy Gilkeson tied for 5th at 148. Outside of Barker, Clay's second round 71 was the only other under par round in the championship flight.
In the First Flight, Laurie Rutherford shot 81-69 to post a three shot winning margin over runnerup Emily Wickstrom. Rutherford plays out of Walden on Lake Conroe and Wickstrom plays at Sun City Golf Club.
Brianna Maynard from Forest Creek Golf Club captured first place in the second flight. Peggy Spann finished in the runner up position.
Players reported that the heat was a factor in the scoring. They also indicated that the Avery Ranch golf course was in excellent condition and praised the staff for running an excellent event.

Information for the future:
The 2011 Central Texas Women’s Amateur was held at Avery Ranch Golf Club in Austin on July 9 & 10, 2011. The format for this tournament is 36 holes of stroke play. Flights were determined based on first round scores. Gross prizes were awarded in each flight.
A current USGA handicap was required for entry into the tournament, with a maximum of 30 allowed for the competition.
