After battling all day long with defending champion Manny Bhakta, Jimmy Keener finally prevailed and won the Horseshoe Bay Invitational on the 10th hole of a sudden death playoff. Getting to the playoff was not easy for either player. Keener, in the photo on the left, is checking his scorecard after regulation play.
After a front nine 34, the 2012 champion Bhakta stood at three under for the tournament and three shots ahead of Keener, who shot 35 on the front and was at even par the tournament. Keener then birdied 10 and 11, eagled 12, and birdied 13 while Bhakta birdied 11 and 12. That put both players at -5 with five holes to play. 
Keener then bogied four holes in a row and birdied 18 while Bhakta made a couple of pars then made a double bogey on 16, bogey on 17 and par on 18. Both players finished regulation play at two under par, one stroke ahead of Kody King, whose final round 69 almost caught the leaders. Robert Evan's 69 tied King and Keener for the low round of the day in the Open division.
Aaron Billings shot 74-69 to win the Senior division while Jeff Opheim finished 2nd with 73-74. Gordon Butler's 77-75 was good for third place.
The players enjoyed excellent weather and good scoring conditions on Sunday. Although the Slick Rock Greens had been recently aireated they putted relatively well and the course was in excellent condition overall. That, combined with the course layout that was much easier than Ram Rock the day before, lead to several sub par rounds being posted by players.
