Westlake Boys 2nd, Girls 3rd in 5A State Golf Tournament – Nolen and Sims Win Individual Titles

Boys Competition

Conroe-The Woodlands fired a second round team effort of 281, one over par, to overtake first round leader Austin Westlake and capture the State 5A Golf Championship Title.  Consistency was the key for The Woodlands with individual scores of 68, 70,71, and 72.  The two day total of 571 was seven shots ahead of Westlake 579.

Westlake started the day with a four shot lead and posted a second day total of 294.  Straton Nolen, who won the individual title in a playoff, lead the Westlake effort with a one under par 69 while Senior Wehman Hopke posted a 70 to go with a first round 71 and eventually finish 4th individually, after a four man playoff for 3rd place individually.
However, the Chaps fell a few shots short in their effort to capture the team title.  All in all, it was a very succesful season for the Westlake boys program.    See the full results at this link.
