Thirteen year old Reese Ramsey of Austin fired 73-73 = 146 to capture the Texas Junior Golf Tour Bear Country Championship at Twin Rivers Country Club in Waco Texas, held September 8-9.
Ramsey's first day 73 in high winds left him one shot behind the leader and in position to win the title. After playing solidly in the second round, the championship came down to the last few holes and featured two Austin juniors, Reese Ramsey and Alex Levy. Ramsey birdied #16 and made pars on 17 and 18 to win by one over Levy.
On the final hole, Ramsey was faced with a difficult greenside pitch for his third shot. His ball rested just outside of a greenside bunker, requiring him to stand in the bunker with the ball above his feet. The pitch shot came to rest ten feet past the hole. He made the the par putt to secure the title.
Levy's final round 72 tied for the low round of the day and good for a second place finish, one shot behind Ramsey.
Congratulations to both players.
