Alexandra Rossi Wins First Collegiate Tournament, Leads SMU Girls to Team Championship

In her initial start at an SMU Mustang, Alexandra Rossi fired 70-81-68 = 219 at the Chip N' Club Invitational held at the Country Club of Lincoln Nebraska  to capture the individual title and lead the Mustangs to the team championship.   Rossi, who recently graduated from Regents High School in Austin and is playing at SMU as a freshmen, posted the two low rounds of the tournament with her first round 70 and her final round 68.  Her combined total of three over par was good for a two shot victory.

Rossi, who also won the 2011 George Hannon Junior Invitational,  reported to her teacher Ann Marie Gildersleeve that the second round 81 was mostly due to the fatigue of playing 36 holes in one day.  She obviously recuperated quickly and came back strong in the final round posting 34-34=68, which included five birdies and one bogey.

With Reese Ramsey's recent win on Texas Junior Golf Tour and Rossi's victory in Nebraska, things seem to be going the right way for Gildersleeve's students.  Congratuations to all on their success and for representing Austn Golf in such fine fashion.  Shown below, Gildersleeve is a Member of the PGA of America and Head Teaching Professional at Austin Country Club
