Westlake Boys Golf Team Leads 8th Aggie Cup Invitational

After the first round of play in the 8th Annual Aggie Cup Invitational Golf Tournament the Austin Westlake Chaparrals held a five shot lead over the Austin Vandergrift Vipers, an eight shot lead over the Flower Mound, nine over the Cedar Park and ten over Lake Travis.

The team leaderboard was dominated by teams from the Austin area even though the field contained most of the strong teams from Dallas, College Station, and San Antonio. Click here for all team scores.

The tournament is being held over two different golf courses, both of which are excellent courses and provide a significant challenge to the players.  The first round was played at the Traditions Course  The Traditions is a Jack Nicklaus design and home to the Texas A&M University Golf Team.  The second will be played at the Miramont Country Club on their Robert Trent Jones Jr. course.

The individual lead was held by Reese Ramsey, one of the younger players on the Westlake #2 team.  Ramsey fashioned a 72 in cool windy conditions and was the only player to match even par  Click here for individual scores.

Ramsey held a one shot lead over Marco Maldonado of Lufkin, two shots over Dylan Godfrey of Bryan and three over several players including Matthew Perrine of Westlake #1 and Charles Kim of Cedar Park #2.

The final round of the tournament will be held at the Miramont Country Club on Tuesday.
