Cooper Dossey Wins Jimmy Demaret Classic – Other Austin Area Players Finish Well

AUSTIN, Texas (January 26, 2014) – Cooper Dossey of Austin birdied the first playoff to win the seventh annual Jimmy Demaret Junior Classic. Dossey, a 2016 grad, shot rounds of 71-73=144 to finish regulation tied with Brandon Smith of Frisco. It was the first win for Dossey in the Boys 15-18 division and his second overall.  Baxter Dillion, also of Austin shot 71-81 to finish T7.

Smith, last year’s Player of the Year, had the low round of the day; a 2-under par 70 to force the playoff with Dossey. Kyle of Hogan of Cypress, Philip Barbaree of Shreveport, Trent Hill of Southlake and Dylan Godfrey of Bryan rounded out the top-5.

Reigning State Junior champion Annika Clark won the Girls 12-18 division with a 36-hole total of 78-76=154. Clark, a 2015 grad from Highlands, bested a strong field of 18 players that included last year’s Player of the Year, Hailee Cooper. Maddie Liutwieler of Katy was the runner-up two strokes behind Clark. First-round leader Greta Bruner rounded out the top-3.

Mac Meissner captured his first Legends Junior Tour victory in the Boys 14 & Under division. Meissner, a 2017 grad from San Antonio, had a two-day total of 68-80=148. Thomas Critch of Cedar Park shot rounds of 70-80=150 to finish alone in second place. Turner Hosch of Dallas notched a top-3 finish in his first Legends Junior Tour event.

All three winners earned 1,000 points to sit atop the College Golf Camps of America Points List. This was the second straight year this event was held at The Hills CC’s Flintrock Falls course. The event was ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard and Golfweek. AJGA performance stars will be awarded to the top-10 finishers in the Boys 15-18 division and top-3 in the Girls 12-18 division.
