The 18th Annual Hannon Cup Matches begin today at Great Hills Country Club. The matches feature selected local amateur golfers versus a team of local professionals.
The opening ceremonies were held Sunday night at the Renaissance Hotel and featured Keith Morland as the guest speaker. Ed Clements was the master of ceremonies.
Nub Donaldson, shown here between Coach Hannon and Steve Termeer, received the Hannon Cup Association Distinguished Service Award. Donaldson has been an avid golfer all his adult life. In the late 1990’s he became interested in the rules of golf, His good friend, Coach Hannon, tutored him. Be began to work as a rules official with coach Hannon and Dr. Tom Kirksey all around central Texas. In 2001 Nub was appointed to the USGA Regional Affairs Committee. He served in the USGA until 2012, working 3 US Women’s Opens and countless other USGA events.

Play begins at 8:00 a.m. Monday morning at Great Hills Country Club and is open to the public. Play begins with foursomes matches (alternate shot) in the morning followed by fourball matches in the afternoon
