Lake Travis Girls Capture State 6A Golf Title

Former U.S. Women’s Amateur Champion Kristen Gillman shot 68-73 at Legacy Hills in Georgetown, Texas during Texas 6A Girls Golf Championship to win the individual championship and lead the Lake Travis Girls Golf Team to victory in the team competition.
Austin Westlake finished second in the team competition and Westlake’s Kennedy Swan shot 74-69 to claim second in the individual standings. giving Austin the top two 6A girls golf teams in the state.
The Lake Travis Girls Golf Team for 2016 may be one of the best teams ever in Texas High School golf. They won twelve tournaments in a row dating back to the 2015 Regional championship. Twelve in a row…good grief. They won every tournament they played in 2016. That has to be a record.
The Lake Travis team total of four over par for two rounds in the state championship is remarkable and provided a substantial winning margin. Congratulations to the girls, coaches and families of these outstanding team. These memories will last a lifetime.
Westlake 2016 Girls Golf Team – Second in State 6A
Congratulations to Westlake High School for finishing second in the 6A Girls Golf Championship. Second place in the state 6A competition is nothing to sneeze at. It means you beat a lot of good teams from across the state and are doing a lot of things right. With several young team members Westlake will be a force in the near future.
The 2016 Westlake team consists of Kennedy Swann, Randi Romack, Maggie Cowart, Madelyn Jones, Jordan Shackelford, alternate Elena Castenon, Coaches Chuck Nowland and Ashley Patterson.
