The UT Mens Golf Team shot 299 to tie for 13th place after the first round of the NCAA National Championship Golf Tournament at Karsten Creek in Stillwater OKlahoma, home of the Oklahoma State Golf Team. The leader, Geogia Tech shot 6 under 283 to grap a three shot lead over UCLA and four shots over Alabama with Texas A&M in fourth place at even par.
After three rounds of stroke play, the top eight teams will advance to match play and play on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the championship. The Longhorns trail 8th place Oklahoma State by seven shots with two rounds left in the stroke play portion of the tournament.
The individual champion will be determined on the basis of the 54 hole stroke play.
