Players from Austin dominated play in the TJGA event played on the Crenshaw Course at the Barton Creek Resort, Austin, Texas July 18-19, 2011 by capturing three of four division titles.
Dillon Van Essen captured the Boys 16-18 title, Reese Ramsey captured the Boys 12-15 title and Maya Wilson won the Girls 12-15 division.
Close to 80 players from all over Texas teed it up in weather that can be summed up in one word- HOT!
The Boys 16-18 played 6,630 yards; the Boys 12-15 played 6,152 yards; and all Girls played 5,660 yards in this 36-hole Golfweek-ranked event. Coaches from St. Edwards University and HBU were in attendance watching some of the best juniors in the region battle it out.
Day one saw typical hot and sunny July weather and day two was more of the same. As the players figured out the difficult Barton Creek greens, the scored dropped.
Dillon Van Essen captured the Boys 16-18 title with a 3-under par 68 second round. Dillon had 5 birdies on the day, his playing partners PJ Collier and Kirby Gorzell finished 2nd and 3rd respectively with rounds of 69 and 73.
Reese Ramsey continued his hot streak with a second consecutive round of 72 to capture the Boys 12-15 title.
Valeria Macias Saltijeral won the Girls’ 16-18 title after shooting a closing round of 74 while Maya Walton won the Girls’ 12-15 title.
