Stratton Nolen, who qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur
, and then qualified for the match play portion of the tournament, was defeated by Emillo Maurer of Mexico in the first round of match play. Maurer won 1 up. 
The first four holes of the match were halved with pars. Nolen then birdied the 5th to gain a one up advantage, which lasted until #7, which Maurer won with a par. Nolen won #9 with a par to go 1 up at the turn, but bogied #11 to go back to all square.
Nolen then birdied #12 to go back to 1 up but lost #13 to a birdie by Maurer. Holes 14 and 15 were halved with pars. Nolen bogied #16 to go one down and the final two holes were haved with pars.
Congratulations to Stratton Nolen for having made it to the round of 64 in a USGA national level tournament.
