Austin (Aug. 13, 2012) – Jordan Sanders of Cedar Park and William MacNeill of Austin carded opening round 68's in the fourth annual George Hannon Junior Invitational. Alex Rossi, playing in her last junior event, shot a 2-over-par 74 and will look to defend her title in Tuesday's final round. She leads the Girls division by three shots. Harrison Mahon of Plano and Grayson Jones of Texarkana, Ark., lead the Boys 14 & Under division after 4-over-par 76's.
The tournament honors the long time Austin golfing figure and former University of Texas Golf Coach, George Hannon, who recently celebrated his 88th birthday. The tournament is supported by the Hannon Cup Association who supports local golfers with scholarships, contributions to the Austin Junior Golf Academy and other golf related activities.
