Lake Travis Girls Capture District 15-5A Golf Championship

The Lake Travis Girls Captured the District 15-5A Golf Championship at Lion's Municipal Golf Course with a two day total of 558, 10 under par to win by 14 shots over their nearest competitor, Westlake High School.  Anderson finished in 3rd and Westlake II finished 4th.  The Girls Cavaliers were under par the entire tournament, recording a team total of 281, three under par for the first round and 277, seven under for the second round.  (Click on photos to enlarge them)

Kristin Gillman led the way for Lake Travis, firing 68-68 to post 136, six under par.  Julia Beck posted 70-68, four under par and as did Ann Parmerter, who posted 69-69.  Emily Gillman rounded out the team score by posting 74-72.  The Lake Travis girls claimed four of the five top medalist spots during the tournament.

The Westlake 1 team posted respectable team totals but were unable to match the torrid pace of the Cavaliers.  Sierra Sims led the way for Westlake with 63-70,  Maya Walton shot 74-75, Christine Campbell shot 76-74 and Claire Wooldridge shot 76-77.  Robin Tan shot 80-74.

Sierra Sims of Westlake won the Medalist honors with 63-70.  The 63 was a new women's course record at Lions Municipal.  Sims has been a standout for Westlake during her entire high school experience and continues to play exceptional golf.  Sims, shown here in the center, displays her Medalist trophy alongside runner-up Kristin Gillman (left in photo) and Julia Beck, who finished third.
