Manny Bhakta and Peach Reynolds both posted 73 to take the first round lead in the Sun City Invitational. The first round was played at the 7075 yard Cowan Creek Golf Course and the final round will be contested at the White Wing Golf Course, both of which are in Sun City. Mike Allen is in third with 74, Geoff Champlin is fourth at 75.
This is a new tournament in the Austin Amateur Golf Rankings and the field is minimal due to conflicting dates with the Firecracker Open qualifier, the Texas Amateur, the U.S. Open and Fathers Day. The golf course was good and the weather pleasant for those that participated.
