After two rounds, the St. Edwards Women’s Golf Team has established a six shot lead over second place Tarleton State. Led by Alyssa Smith, shown here on the right, the Lady Hilltoppers have received steady performances from four of the five players on the team.
Smith has posted 75-73 in the first two rounds of play and her 148 total has given her a two shot lead in the competition for the individual scoring title.
Taylor Moreno, here on the left, shot 74 in the first round to lead the scoring on that day. Marissa Bransburg and Ryanne Haddow’s scores have counted in the team totals during the first two days of play. Haley Haught, who has lead the team scoring for most of the season, has yet to reach her form during the tournament. Scoring conditions have been difficult in the gusty spring winds.
Another steady performance in the final round will result in St. Edwards advancing to the NCAA D2 national championship.
