Jay Reynold’s 70 Leads Horseshoe Bay Invitational

Jay Reynolds, having recently regained his amateur status, is having fun playing local amateur golf.  It’s always fun to shoot one under par 70 at the difficult Ram Rock golf course in Horseshoe Bay.  And, when it’s the only sub par round of the day and provides a two shot lead headed into the final round of the tournament, it’s even more fun.

Steve Landry is Reynolds closest pursuer, having shot one over par 72.  Adam Lowe of San Antonio and Joe Beck III posted three over par 74.  Then there are four players at four over 75 and five players at five over 76.  Full field scores are available at Austin Amateur Golf.  Click here to access that website.

The golf course was in excellent condition with healthy rough and soft greens.  Winds were from the southeast at 10-15.   Ram Rock was about as available for good scoring as it gets.  Unfortunately, that is not very available.

The course continues to be one of the most difficult courses in the area.  It punishes wayward shots and makes double bogeys or more difficult to avoid.  The combination of playing foursomes and the difficulty of the course made five hour rounds the norm for the day and it was hot.  Players had their hands full.

Play concludes tomorrow at Slick Rock Golf Course and will provide players with a better opportunity for scoring.  Tee times are available at this link.
