Brian Noonan will be defending his title as play begins today at Austin Country Club in the 2014 Harvey Penick Invitational Golf Tournament. The tournament honors Harvey Penick, the long time head professional and teacher at Austin Country Club. The combination of the traditions of Austin Country Club, the quality of the golf course and club facilities attract a strong field for the event. Noonan will face strong competition from local mid-amateurs and a field of players from numerous states.
Bob Kearney, who has won the mid-amateur division of this tournament twice and is the defending champion in the senior category, is in the field along with Ron Kilby, who just won the state senior title at Shady Oaks in Fort Worth.
The following press release from the Harvey Penick Invitational Tournament committee provides more information about the event and links to the tournament website where results will be posted.
The 77th Harvey Penick Invitational is this week and it looks like we will have a very strong and deep field in both the mid amateur and senior divisions.
