During a recent practice round, Cooper Dossey shot 127 over 36 holes at the Republic Golf Club in San Antonio. Dossey plays for Vandegrift High School and was named as an honorable mention for the 2014 Rolex Junior All-American team.
Matt Werneke, the coach of the current Boys 4A state championship team on which Dossey played, provided the following information about Dossey’s recent excellent play.
“I took my top players down to The Republic GC in San Antonio to play 36 holes and get a good look at the Regional golf course for later in April. We played a team best-ball match against Kerrville Tivy for the first 18 and then an Intrasquad best-ball match for the second 18. We putted everything out both rounds and Cooper Dossey shot rounds of 65-62. Pretty impressive day of golf”
Sounds like the coach is providing his team with the opportunity to advance to the state championships again this year and has the players to put a strong showing on the board.
