Madelyn Jones wins Girls 11-14 Division of TJGT Slick Rock Event
The Texas Junior Golf Tour Championship was played July 20th-21st, 2015 at the Horseshoe Bay Resort – Slick Rock Golf Course. The Boys 15-18 played 6,834 yards; the Boys 12-14 played 6,354 yards; and all Girls 11-18 played 5,721 yards in this 36-hole, nationally-ranked event.
Event Recap:
Slick Rock Golf Course at Horseshoe Bay Resort greeted 76 players on a hot and humid July day. Gavyn Freeland of Houston and Dylan Briscoe of Austin Posted under par rounds on Day 1 for the Boys’.
On the Girl’s side Maggie Cowart of Austin and Kenzie Wright of McKinney were the stars of day 1 as they posted the low rounds of the day with a 73 and 74 respectively.
In the younger Boys division Dallas Hankamer (Temple, TX) posted a 73 to lead the 11-14 group. In the older boys division there were four players tied at the top with rounds of 73.
Day 2 started with an 8:30 am shotgun start as all the players were able to get out onto the course and play a few holes before the temperatures began to rise. Seventh Grader Dallas Hankamer shot 70 in the Boys 11-14 Division. Kenzie Wright came from one back shooting 70 to win first place in the Girl’s 11-18 division. Holt Miller came from two back shooting a 71 to win by three in the Boy’s 15-18 division.
