Jay Reynolds Wins Men’s City With 16 Under Total

IMG_1686 (2)Jay Reynolds shot 60, 69, 74, 67 for a 16 under total and led wire to wire to win the 2015 Austin Men’s City Championship by 9 shots over Steve Paterson who finished at seven under par.

Reynolds, who regained his amateur status a little over a year ago, has been a contender in several local tournaments and is delighted to claim his first Men’s City Championship, particularly after playing so well over four different courses.  His final round was a bogey free 67 and he put an exclamation point on his win with a birdie on the final hole.  Congratulations to Jay on his great play.

Steve Paterson, who finished second in the 2014 Austin Men’s City Championship as well as second in this championship,  continued his excellent play with a final round 70.  Paterson is the current points leader in the Austin Amateur Golf standings that are used to select the Austin Team in the Rudy’s Cup.  The Rudy’s Cup is a Ryder Cup competition between the best amateurs in Austin and San Antonio.

Jake Ezell shot a final round 71 to finish with a three under par total and finish tied for third with Brandon Rougeau. Both are collegiate players that graduated from Austin area high schools.

Randy Reynolds

Randy Reynolds shot 71 in the final round to win the Senior division with an excellent two over total for the 72 holes.  Reynolds finished 12th in the overall division.  A good performance by any standard but even better as a senior.  Congratulations to Randy on his good play.

 

Taylor Greenway shot 74 in the final round to capture the junior category crown with a 13 over par total.

Congratulations to the Austin Parks and Recreation Department Golf Division and all of the staff who ran the tournament, prepared the courses and made this Men’s City Championship one of the best on record.  The courses were in excellent shape and it was a fair and challenging test of golf that produced some great golf and an enjoyable experience for the players.
