Jay Reynolds
After shooting 39 on the front nine of Grey Rock Golf Club, which included two birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey, Jay Reynolds eight shot lead had become two shots because Brandon Rougeau shot 33, making three birdies and six pars. That put Reynolds at -10 and Rougeau at -8 for the tournament.

On the back nine, Reynolds made bogeys on holes 12 and 15 before regaining his form to birdie the last three holes to post 74. Rougeau double bogeyed 10 and 14 then bogeyed 15 and 16, birdied 17 to post 41 on the back and 74 for the day. So, these boys had an interesting day and wound where they started the day, separated by eight shots.
Meanwhile, Steve Paterson, the third player in the final group put together nines of 36-35 for 71 and a 54 hole total of five under par, good for second place, six shots behind Reynolds. Paterson, who recently won the Central Texas Amateur for the second time is in position to win his first Men’s City Championship should Reynolds falter.
So the leaderboard is Reynolds at -11, Paterson at -5, Rougeau at -3, Jake Ezell at -2 and Ben Carter at -1. Michael Cooper is at even par and everyone else is over par. Click here to see the full leaderboard.
Josh Luongo
The round of the day belongs to Josh Luongo, who posted a five under par 67 which included eight birdies, one bogey and one double bogey. That moved Luongo to one over for the tournament and tied for seventh place.
Randy Reynolds
Randy Reynolds continued his steady play and is leading the senior division at three over par. Chris Shive is in second at six over par and Mike Allen is in third at eight over. Reynolds along with Robert Evans and Steve Paterson are the driving force behind the Austin Amateur Golf website that provides the ranking for the Rudy’s Cup race. It’s good to see Randy playing well.
Grey Rock golf course was in excellent condition playing firm and fast with excellent greens. The wind provided an extra bit of challenge to the round. Lots of players commented on the good conditioning of all the courses played in the first three rounds.
The final round will be at Morris Williams on Sunday and someone will be handed a trophy for the Men’s City Championship. Odds are it will be an interesting round. The remodel of the course a couple of years ago added some length to the course and it can play long. The greens are in good shape so it will be a pleasure to play.
