Jay Reynolds Wins Chester Cup

On the 18th tee Sunday, Jay Reynolds was even par for the tournament and one shot behind Chris Hartenstein.  After pushing his tee shot into the right rough on the uphill par five, Reynolds played a 6 iron up the hill and onto the green for an eagle putt of about 20 feet.

Hartenstein played his third shot on number 18 to about 12 feet and was putting for birdie.  Each player narrowly missed their putt and finished regulation play at one under par 143 for 36 holes.

The playoff began and ended on the par three 10th hole. Both players missed the green and then chipped to about four feet.  Hartenstein missed his par putt and Reynolds made his.  Game over.

First round leader Nathan Shilling finished in third at 145, one over par.

Reynolds has won several times this year and leads the Austin Amateur rankings by a substantial margin.
