UT Men Tied For 1st at Southwest Regional NCAA Tournament

The UT Mens Golf Team posted nine under par in the first round of the NCAA Southwest Regional Tournament and finished the day tied with Florida State for the Top Spot.    Jordan Spieth lead the entire field in the scoring with a six under 66.  Dylan Frittelli posted 70, Julio Vegas was at even par 72 while the team scores was completed by Tony Hakula with 73.  Tony Gribble's 77 was not included in the team total for the day.

Five shots behind Texas and Florida State is Illinois with a four under effort, Washington and St. Mary's (CA) are seven back at two under.  The top five teams advance to the NCAA National Championship tournament at Riviera Country Club in Palisades, CA being held May 29-June 3.

In the individual scoring, Spieth lead with six under, Brooks Koepka of Florida State is one back at -5, Ben Geyer of St. Mary's and Thomas Pieters of Illinois are at -4.  Fritelli is T10 with -2.

The tournament is being held at Jimmy Austin Golf Course in Norman Oklahama which is the home course for Oklahoma.  The tournament will consist of 54 holes with second round action under way.  You can follow the scores at this link
