Paterson Leads Men’s City with 64, Ellis at 66

With the field split between Lions Municipal Golf Course and Jimmy Clay Golf Course, Steve Paterson combined nine birdies with two bogies to shoot seven under par at Muny in the first round of the 2012 Austin Men's City Championship.  Starting on hole #10,  Paterson birdied 10,11, 14, 18 to turn in four under.  He promptly bogied holes 1 and 2 and then reeled off five birdies from there to the house to post 64.   Understated as always, Paterson commented that he played OK but putted well.  He said "I think it helps playing with good putters, Alex can putt"

Alex Ellis, playing with Paterson, reeled off five birdies on his first five holes and then bogied number 16 and doubled 17 to turn in two under.  Birdies at 6,8 and 9 with no bogies made for three under 33 on the front and five under 66 for the day.

Defending Champion Kody King put together a steady round of 68 while Joe Bendetti combined four birdies and an eagle with three bogies to record 68.

The low round of the day at Jimmy Clay was recorded by Seth Stuart when he posted a two under par 70.  Michael Cooper recorded an even par 72 at Clay.

The players will switch golf courses and at the conclusion of play today the field will be cut to the low 72 and ties for the final 36 holes to be played at Roy Kizer.
