Robert Evans continues his hot streak in qualifying events by posting the only sub-par round at the Hills of Lakeway Golf Course and grabbing one of two spots in the local qualifyer for the U.S. Mid Amateur. His 71 was the low round of the day by one shot. On Wednesday, Evans recorded a 68 at Austin Country Club to qualify for the Texas Mid-Amateur. It tied for low round of the day in that qualifying event. Great playing at the right time.
Chris Hartenstein was the second player to qualify for the U.S. Mid-Amateur, shooting the only even par round of the day. Hartenstein also qualified for the Texas Mid-Amateur on Wednesday by posting 76 to gain a spot in the field. Both Evans and Hartenstein are consistent performers in the Austin golfing circles.
Andy Kampan of Frisco, Texas and Adam Rubinson of Fort Worth won the alternate positions.
