David Backus and Barrett Sandefur combined their efforts to post 61 and grab the first round lead of the 2013 Muny Spring Partnership, good for a two shot lead over Stephen Bright and Casey Harverstick and three shots over Kody King and Matt Fisher. At 65, four shots back are Brian Noonan and Mike Allen along with Cory Bull and Mike Harwood.
The course was in excellent condition and the greens putted well. The day began with cool temperatures and some wind and warmed up as the day progressed. The wind picked up slightly through the day.
The flags at Muny flew at half mast in honor of the events that have taken place over the past few days in Boston and West, Texas.
The usual comraderie of the event was present and the players enjoyed the fine spring day at Muny. With the course in good condition and pleasant weather players were in fine sprits and enjoyed the day. Playing well was a bonus for some.
Billy Clagett, six time firecracker champion and partner Tim Wilson, were glad to be back on the links after suffering through some injuries that prevented their playing in recent events.
