AUSTIN, TX (June 19, 2013) – The First Tee of Greater Austin (TFTGA) will partner with four Austin area PGA golf professionals to attempt a Guinness Book of World Record. Starting on Monday, July 1 at 6 a.m. and wrapping up on Tuesday, July 2 at 6 a.m. at Lakeway’s Live Oak Golf Club, the foursome will attempt the record for “Most Golf Holes Played by a Fourball in 24 Hours in a Cart.” The team must complete 235 holes of golf to beat the current record of 234 holes.

The team will play 24 hours non-stop in this fun community event that will raise money and awareness for The First Tee’s youth mentorship programs. “This will be such a fun way to engage our community, rally behind some excellent local golf professionals, and raise awareness and funds for an incredible youth development program,” said Jennifer MacCurrach, Executive Director of The First Tee of Great Austin and participant in the world record attempt.

MacCurrach will be joined by Bryan Benner, PGA Apprentice, Assistant Golf Professional at UT Golf Club; Aaron Chilek, PGA, Director of Golf at The Hills Country Club; and Mike Sizemore, PGA, Club Director at Barton Creek Country Club.

The Austin community can support TFTGA’s efforts and be a part of golf history by pledging $5 for every birdie, $10 for every eagle, $1 for every hole played, or a flat donation. Any donation over $50 will receive a commemorative tee-shirt celebrating the event.
