Ellis and Levy Grab 1st Round Lead Of Firecracker Open With 63’s

Alex Ellis, shown smiling here, is a former Westlake graduate entering his senior year at the College of Charleston.  He shot 63 and is tied for the lead in the Firecracker Open.  During his round made nine birdies, one bogey and eight pars.  He played in the morning wave of players participating in the Firecracker Open.

During the afternoon wave, another Alex, that being Alex Levy, also posted a 63.  Levy, who played at Austin High School, made eight birdies and no bogeys to post 32-31=63. Oddly enough,  both Alex and Alex are left handed golfers. Think about it……

Kody King, a former Men's City Champion and winner of the Austin Amaterur Points rankings for the last two years fired a five under par 66 to stay within easy reach of the leaders over the next two rounds on Saturday and Sunday.

Four players posted a four under par total of 67 and eight players posted 68, with a total of 29 players posting scores at even par or better out of 118 players in the field..
